Mandriva Linux Security Advisory 2009-221

Mandriva Linux Security Advisory 2009-221 – neon before 0.28.6, when expat is used, does not properly detect recursion during entity expansion, which allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (memory and CPU consumption) via a crafted XML document containing a large number of nested entity references, a similar issue to CVE-2003-1564. neon before 0.28.6, when OpenSSL is used, does not properly handle a ‘’ (NUL) character in a domain name in the subject’s Common Name (CN) field of an X.509 certificate, which allows man-in-the-middle attackers to spoof arbitrary SSL servers via a crafted certificate issued by a legitimate Certification Authority, a related issue to CVE-2009-2408. This update provides a solution to these vulnerabilities.
